Making Love to His Tonic & Gin
Its six o'clock on a Thursday
As the regular crowd shuffles in
Theres an old man sitting next to me
Makin love to his tonic and gin
He says, son, can you play me a memory?
Im not really sure how it goes
But its sad and its sweet and I knew it complete
When I wore a younger mans clothes
Sing us a song, youre the Lawyer, man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, were all in the mood to get rich, my friend
We're geared up and ready to fight
Now the Judge at the bar is a friend of mine
He's referred several clients to me
And hes quick to sustain when I'm playing the game
But theres someplace that hed rather be
He says, bill, I believe this is killing me.
And I've more important cases to try
I bet I could convict that ex-football star
He lifts his glass and he brags with a sigh
Now paul is a real estate counselor
Who never gave time to his wife
And he talks with John Moyer the big divorce lawyer
About starting his unmarried life
Well the secretaries are all playing politics
As the attorneys we slowly get stoned
Yes, we're sharing a drink they call loneliness
But its better than drinkin alone
So sing us a song, youre the Lawyer, man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, were all in the mood to get rich, my friend
We're geared up and ready to fight
Its been a pretty good year despite tort reform
And the partner he gives me the nod
cause he knows that its me theyve been comin to see
The almighty (and good) P.I. god
And the piano, it sounds like a carnival
And my breath smells strongly of beer
And I sit in my chair feeling utter despair
And say, man, what am I doin here?
Sing us a song, youre the Lawyer, man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, were all in the mood to get rich, my friend
We're geared up and ready to fight
(Can anyone tell me what song this is?)

And the guys from the bar,
they put complaints in my jar,
and say, "man, you're an attorney without peer."
Billy Joel would be proud. This made my day!
